Our Exciting Opportunity

It is an exciting time for Ericsson as we are establishing an Open Source Office; a dedicated organization to support open source consumption and contribution across the company!

Our aim is to become a center of excellence for tracking and understanding Ericsson’s use of and engagement in this field!

The Open Source Office will be located in the Implementation Components Unit, which is part of the Standard and Industry Initiatives organization at Group Function Technology.

It will consist of open source managers covering the following areas: IPR protection, policies and procedures, compliance, risk assessment, training and internal communications, Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) due diligence, strategy, external liaison, and leadership and culture. While each open source manager will be focusing on one (or a few) of the areas above, all of them will be expected to have a general understanding of all (or most) of them.

The position can be based either in Europe (Sweden preferably) or in North America and will report to the Head of Implementation Components.

You will

  • Work closely with our Business and Development Units on defining and driving open source strategies
  • Cooperate with external partners as needed
  • Define, maintain and update strategies, policies, and procedures
  • Develop training materials and provide training across the organization
  • Analyze the effect of M&A activities and engagements in open source communities on Ericsson’s intellectual property
  • Provide mentorship on open source in general as well as on specific topics such as compliance and risk assessment

To be successful in the role you must have

  • A University degree (MSc or BSc) or equivalent
  • 10+years of experience in the ICT industry
  • Proven track record in open source, including: compliance and legal aspects, IPR and licensing, the business mechanics of open source, technologies made available via open source, software management or open source community experience
  • Outstanding communication skills and capability to build networks
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken
